Library Cell

SFRI library and information center is a prominent library of the state of Madhya Pradesh in the field of forestry. It houses books, reports, Indian Forest Records, Working Plans, Working Schemes, Forest resource surveys and Sanctuary Plans. Apart from the research staff of the Institute, forest officers, scientists and technical staff make use of the library facilities. Students, research scholars from various institutes and universities also visit the library regularly.

This cell maintains literature on forestry and allied subjects. It has books on environment, silviculture, forest protection, mensuration, management, marketing, utilization, social forestry, biodiversity, ecology, botany, tissue culture, tree improvement, law, medicinal plants, wild life, seed scheme and computer science, etc.

Documentation Cell

• Maintenance of general and specific ledger files. At present, 250 general and 161 specific ledger files are being maintained. The research findings published in various journals/bulletins and reports, etc. were photocopied and added regularly in the respective ledger files.

• Documentation of technical literature on forestry research.

• Documentation of research articles published in different Journals, Magazines, Newsletters, Bulletins, Vaniki Sandesh, Annual Research Report and Extension series.

• Documentation of final reports of the projects financed by external agencies.

• Publication of quarterly journal “Vaniki Sandesh”, technical bulletins and extension series.

• Sale of SFRI publications.

  • A quarterly journal “Vaniki Sandesh” covering articles on forestry research in the institute and elsewhere is published by the institute. Vaniki Sandesh is circulated to officers of the state forest department, research institutes, universities and individuals. The annual subscription is fixed at Rs. 150/- for individuals and Rs. 300/- for institutions.

  • Sale of Publications :  The institute has published 93 Technical Bulletins, 56 Extension Series, 79 Brochures, 12 Books, 15 Training Material etc. are available for reference and sale.
